Eli Valentin
Director of Latino Studies, Virginia Union University
Eli Valentin is the founder of a brand new think tank, the Institute of Latino Politics and Policy, housed at Virginia Union University.
He has been a contributing columnist for Gotham Gazette, largely focusing on Latino politics in New York, and is a frequent guest political analyst for Univision NY and New York 1 News. His writing has also appeared in the Journal of Hispanic/Latino Theology, the Political Theology Network, Commonweal Magazine, and City and State NY.
Valentin has served as a political advisor to numerous elected officials across the country He is also completing a book tentatively titled, A History of Latino Politics in New York.
For 16 years, Eli also served as a senior pastor and is an ordained elder in the Church of God in Christ. He has taught at Union Theological Seminary, New York Theological Seminary and Iona University.
