Interfaith America is proud to announce the inaugural Teaching & Learning Pluralism (TLP) Cohort. The cohort is made up of a powerful collection of campus Centers for Teaching and Learning (CTLs) committed to integrating pluralism into the heart of undergraduate education through faculty capacity building.

Each of the following participating institutions is eligible to receive up to $10,000 to catalyze transformative curricular and pedagogical efforts rooted in deep collaboration among institutional CTL leaders, faculty, instructional designers, and learning scholars.  The cohort includes a diverse mix of institutions—from Ivy League research universities to public universities and liberal arts colleges—reflecting a broad spectrum of higher education. Over the course of the academic year, the cohort members will engage in virtual convenings and peer-learning sessions, workshops on pluralism-centered pedagogy, and receive guidance from Interfaith America directly.

The TLP Cohort launched with a four-day, in-person convening at the 2025 Interfaith Leadership Summit. Cohort participants gained practical skills in Pedagogies for Pluralism, including strategies for navigating challenges that arise when teaching in times of tension. Participants also forged new relationships with each other that will help to reinforce and inform their work.  In addition, each institutional team developed an asset map and an implementation plan to guide their campus-based initiatives for the coming year.

We are excited to partner with these outstanding institutions as they weave pluralism into their CTL programming, helping faculty shape how students learn, think, and engage with difference as part of Interfaith America’s ongoing efforts to strengthen classroom pluralism.

Here are the participants of the 2025-2026 Teaching & Learning Pluralism Cohort:

  • College of Charleston (Charleston, South Carolina)
  • Columbia University (New York, New York)
  • Cornell University (Ithaca, New York)
  • Goucher College (Baltimore, Maryland)
  • James Madison University (Harrisonburg, Virginia)

Over the 2025–2026 academic year, each CTL team will design and implement sustainable, strategic initiatives to advance pluralistic pedagogy on their campuses—for example, hosting faculty development workshops, establishing faculty pluralism fellowships, and building shareable resources that highlight pluralistic teaching practices.

We are looking forward to all the excellent work the TLP Cohort will achieve. Stay tuned for more as their projects advance!

This program is made possible in part by a gift from the Arthur Vining Davis Foundations.
