Community-engaged scholarship and building mutually-beneficial relationships between universities and their broader communities is a growing national priority in higher education.

And while faith communities often provide the anchor for many community-based initiatives, there can be an uneasy relationship between faith communities and secular colleges and universities. This 60-minute webinar, “Leading University Engagement with Faith Communities: Exploring the Tensions and Possibilities for Successful Collaboration” on November 2 at 12:30 PM CT will explore the challenges and opportunities for working across diverse faith communities in ways that align with institutional missions and promote the common good.

Panelists include:

  • Makeda Zulu, Executive Director, University of Minnesota Robert J. Jones Urban Research and Outreach-Engagement Center;
  • Charles Mathewes, Carolyn M. Barbour Professor of Religious Studies, University of Virginia;
  • Saif Ishoof, Founder/Partner, Lab 22c., Miami, Florida.

The moderator for this event is David Weerts, Professor and Faculty Director in the Office for Public Engagement at the University of Minnesota.

The webinar is free and open to the public. Register to join this conversation on November 2!
