William Foster

William Foster is Managing Partner at The Bridgespan Group, where he leads the firm while continuing to advise philanthropists, nonprofits, and policy organizations. A recognized thought leader in philanthropy and social change, William has supported major initiatives such as Blue Meridian Partners, the TED Audacious Project, and leading policy organizations including The Pew Charitable Trusts, Brookings Institution, and the Environmental Defense Fund. 

He specializes in structuring philanthropic “Big Bets” and advancing effective policy change in a polarized landscape. William previously led Bridgespan’s U.S. Advisory Services and has published widely in Stanford Social Innovation Review and Harvard Business Review. He formerly served as Executive Director of the Jacobson Family Foundation (now One8). 

William holds a B.A. from Harvard and an M.B.A. from Stanford, where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar. He chairs the board of Phare Bio and lives outside Boston with his family.
