Director of Racial Equity Initiatives
Alexis Vaughan (she/her) is the Director of Racial Equity Initiatives at Interfaith America. Alexis directs IA’s Black Interfaith Project, an initiative that amplifies the stories of interfaith cooperation within Black communities that have shaped American culture and policy; and the Vote is Sacred Project, a national nonpartisan civic engagement initiative that harnesses the social capital of higher education and faith communities to underscore the centrality of the vote in a religiously diverse democracy. She holds a BA in Biological Anthropology from Duke University and a Master of Divinity from the University of Chicago Divinity School. As an ordained minister, Alexis has led congregations in the Washington, DC area and organized community engagement and social justice ministries alongside clergy of various faiths in the spirit of mutual respect and loyalty. In her spare time, Alexis enjoys watching tennis and Duke basketball, discussing television, and being wherever exotic animals are.
