2023 Presidents Institute: Moral Leadership for a Diverse Campus

Catholic university leaders convene to address issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the context of mission.

June 21-23, 2023

Chicago, IL

The 2023 Presidents Institute: Moral Leadership for a Diverse Campus offers college and university leaders the space, guidance, resources, and colleagueship to address issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the context of mission. Participating presidents will explore how the Catholic story and identity of their institutions present a hopeful theology of cooperation and cultivate strategies for leading change on campus and in the public square.

Interfaith America and the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities have partnered to develop a model for supporting faith-based higher education leaders in their diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. More specifically, this collaboration was established to identify and advance strategies for mission-driven inclusive leadership.

Testimonials from Past Participants

The Institute offered an opportunity to meet other Presidents who share the same commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice – and the same challenges.

– M. FUENTES , ST. EDWARD’S UNIVERSITY

The people and the content helped me realize that I can access and own the charism and the faith tradition of my institution.

– R. MANUEL , DEPAUL UNIVERSITY

The combination of quality presenters/presentations and the intimacy of the group fostered for me new and innovative thinking and reflections on my own leadership style and agenda for DEI initiatives.

– M. CAMILLE, ALBERTUS MAGNUS COLLEGE

The session with Fr. Bryan Massingale was powerful. It helped me see that, despite the ways our church can fail in its aspirations, many people continue to struggle on behalf of our students and colleagues. It called me to be a better advocate on my campus.

– D. LIVINGSTON , LEWIS UNIVERSITY

I am having my senior leadership team read Robert Franklin’s Moral Leadership, a book we read for the Institute. We are also looking at ways to apply some of the great suggestions for student projects that came out of small group discussions.

– B. MCDONALD , THE COLLEGE OF ST. SCHOLASTICA
